State funding for public schools in California is among the lowest in the nation. SRVUSD is one of a few districts that receive the least funding from the State. As a result, education foundations have been established at schools in SRVUSD to maintain the high academic standards that make this a destination school district. SRVUSD schools have been able to maintain an amazing performance track record, thanks to the support of the parents and community.
Bella Vista Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is run by parent volunteers at Bella Vista Elementary School. The BVEF helps our school to “fill the funding gap” by raising money to pay for programs, personnel, equipment and services NOT funded and would otherwise not be included in the school curriculum. This includes:
Staff:
- (3) Instructional Assistants for math and reading who provide targeted, individualized instruction in small groups based on need from intervention to enrichment.
- (3) Classroom Paraeducators who support all students and teachers in each grade level which promotes more individualized attention for all students, enhanced classroom management and classroom and teacher support.
- Additional weekly hours for our School Librarian so that all students have access to the books and resources in the library on a regular basis.
Technology: Software, apps, and peripheral equipment.
Programs: Various enrichment programs, STEAM activities, musical instruments, library books.
It is of utmost importance that we continue to provide as much support to our students and teachers during the school year. Our reading and math Instructional Assistants are preparing to provide small group instruction to students during the school day. Our Classroom Paraeducators will be available to assist teachers and students as needed.
Enrichment activities are still a large part of what shapes a well-rounded academic experience for our students. All Bella Vista Trailblazers will continue to be provided with music classes with our certificated music teacher. Our librarian is working to make library and literacy a continued focus for all students. Finally, we aim to continue to refine and enhance our STEAM program this year as we move forward with continuing to develop this initiative. Ed Fund supports our STEAM program with activities and materials for our Maker Space.
With the support from our families to the Bella Vista Education Fund, we can give students a well-rounded education and many opportunities for exceptional experiences during their elementary school years here at Bella Vista Elementary School.
